In OMPM are employed several assemblers trained and skilled to assemble parts and standards with very high tolerances. Most of them very long experienced in the assembly for the aerospace field. The Area Manager interacts strictly with the Planning Department in order to transmit priorities and balance the workloads among the available resources.
Lean procedures such as the 5S have been implemented in the last two years to continuously reduce the costs and lead time of the area. The importance to deliver on time is crucial and the organization has been completely modified in order to optimize the flow of the materials during the manufacturing process. Especially in the assembly, where both the availability of parts and standards to assemble and the manual operations need of great attention by the managers and the production planners. Study have been conducted in order to identify the possibility to produce assemblies considering the takt time or to put them on stock for the next assembly levels.
Among the others, the most complex assemblies produced in OMPM are: Landing Gears, Stabilizer Flaps, Pitch Control Levers, Flight Controls and Cable Assemblies.
